NEW publication: Just Transition Open Agenda May 2022
21 April 2022 at 12:06 pm

The Life After Coal Campaign has just launched its Just Transition Open Agenda booklet* The Just Transition Open Agenda was developed by the campaign’s founding partners Earthlife Africa, groundWork and the Centre for Environmental Rights. The booklet is a formal declaration of the Campaign’s position on what a truly just and equitable transition is, and one that goes beyond the current narrow focus of a just energy transition.
We encourage all to engage with the principles, conditions and asks set out in this agenda, to debate, and to suggest further additions. In this way, the agenda is open as it is iterative, encourages dialogue and is centred on people’s demands and rights. The Just Transition is not likely to be a clean, neat and linear process and similarly, we hope that this Open Agenda will be rewritten to reflect the developments and needs of the people.
Furthermore, we are currently in the process of translating the booklet into isiZulu, isiXhosa and Sesotho. Watch this space.
If you would like more information, to engage, submit feedback, or dialogue on any aspects of the Agenda, please contact [email protected] or post on our social media pages (see icons below).
Please feel free to share this widely.
