This draft strategy aims to replace the National Energy Efficiency Strategy published in 2005. The aim of the 2005 strategy was to respond to the increasing demand for energy alongside a growing commitment to improving resource use and reducing South Africa‟s national environmental footprint.
The draft strategy was published for comment in the Government Gazette on 23 December 2016
